College of Arts and Sciences Dean elected to national board

ULM's Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences was recently elected to serve on the College English Association's Board of Directors.

Dr. Jeffrey Cass will serve a three-year term that begins after the organization's national conference March 30 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The College English Association consists of teacher-scholars in the field of English studies and provides a meeting ground for those interested in all areas of English Studies, including literature, culture, creative writing, rhetoric, composition, technical communication and pedagogy.

Cass, who has been a member of the national organization for several years, said members come together annually for conferences at both the national and local affiliate level.

Members also share new scholarship and ideas in the journals The CEA Critic and The CEA Forum.

"It's been a very successful organization, which is quite friendly and accessible to new faculty and students," Cass said.

"I'm honored to have been elected by my peers to serve in this capacity and am looking forward to a productive three years."
