ULM pharmacy professor named president of LSHP

University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Roxie Stewart, assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, was recently elected and installed as President of the Louisiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists (LSHP). The LSHP is one of two statewide professional pharmacist organizations.

The organization consists of approximately 900 members and strives to promote the value of the pharmacist as an essential member of the health-care team. The organization also represents pharmacy in the public arena and provides continuing education and other membership services to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Stewart was also recently appointed to the ULM College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council and recently received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the first-year students in the College of Pharmacy.

Stewart’s background reflects 16 years of institutional pharmacy practice and six years in academia at the ULM College of Pharmacy. “I have been a member of the LSHP for many years and prior to being elected to this office, I served on the LSHP Board of Directors for two years. This society has helped me grow professionally, and it is with great honor that I give back by serving as President,” said Stewart.
