Professional Experience

Provided Mac and other technical support, software support, website development, and served on various university committees. Additionally, I have planned/specified technology for various grants & proposals, conducted workshops, aided faculty in implementing new technologies in the classroom, and worked on various other technology and web related projects. I also serve as the CMS Administrator in addition to numerous other responsiblities.

My Background

I had over 8 years professional experience in graphic design prior to my employment at the University, most of it computer-based, including computer graphics, animation and traditional & electronic production. These experiences included the implementation of new software and hardware technologies. The last thirty-three or so years I've worked almost exclusively on the Mac. I am in my 29th year at ULM and have specialized in web (code) development.

Strategies & Innovations

Content Management System
Responsible for the day-to day-implementation, migration and support of the web-based content management system. This involved a complete website redesign and site-wide template development. The CMS provides a more consistent look throughout the site as well as maintain navigation consistency. Additionally, it allows for easier, more efficient web publishing by various web contributors.

ULM News
Currently in place on the ULM homepage & featured throughout the site, this feature was established to focus on university news. This meant not just linking to content on the web, but working with and training various individuals to develop and publish web content. Originally established a number of years ago, we have revamped the publishing process & workflow within our CMS system to more efficiently publish news content. News can now be published once and shared strategically throughout the site, mobile app, portal, & to social media.

Mobile App
Primarily responsible for interface and portions of the mobile content, worked with app programmers to develop mobile application for multiple platforms and web-based communication.

Faculty & Student Profiles
Developed and established a template and workflow to produce a series of profiles (over 100) which were featured on the ULM homepage over a couple of years. The student series focused on highlighting the ULM student experience, in their own words. The faculty series focused on faculty accomplishments and what impact or legacy they wanted to have in the classroom.

Spotlight on Recruitment
This feature was established to focus on the university recruitment efforts, primarily the next "big" event. Although recruitment items were on the homepage (periodically), the establishment of the spotlight gave the events a primary, consistent position. Once introduced, destination content was/has been continually developed. Items featured in the spotlight are highly navigated. We have continued the "spotlight" on the homepage, now as an integral part of the page and we have dropped the "spotlight on recruitment" headline.

Internal Digital Information System
With minimal funding through an internal technology grant, flat screen monitors and small computers were positioned in commonly traveled locations around campus. The computers ran a basic OS and web browser pointed to an internal website. Through use of a simple meta refresh (html tag) the browser would display various campus events (one announcement per page). Once in place, computer labs could point to this site as well and establish additional points of contact with students. This system was essentially a precursor to the current, more modern display system currently in place.

Web-Art Gallery
Created a series of website templates and document hierarchy that can be easily modified and used repeatedly for the creation of online web-based art galleries. In addition to the templates, I outlined the procedure for dropping in the graphics and text to reduce the amount of time-consuming editing, linking, etc. by the web author. Since the introduction of the CMS, this feature has been replaced by a gallery feature available within the system.

Recent Feature
Created a "one-off" page for the Virtual Reality Lab. This page highlights the vr lab & classroom. My favorite feature is how the background imagery is handled and the image of the gear filling in on scroll (scroll down the page, best viewed on larger screens).
