Niaux (Ariege). Stag (Cervus elaphus) in rather thick black line on one of the two right-hand panels in the Salon Noir. In this very elegant drawing the artist seems to have been intent chiefly on capturing the nobility and grace of the pose. The treatment is less detailed than in the large left-hand panel, where, among other features, the coat -- not depicted.
Las Chimeneas (Santander). Hind in firm black line. The silhouette is elegant but the legs are stiff and the extremities disregarded.
