2016 Panelist: Linda Singler Holyfield

 

Linda Singler Holyfield, RN, MSN, is the president and CEO of two companies: P&S Surgical Hospital and Speciality Management Services of Ouachita, LLC. She has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership and has devoted much of that time creating healthcare opportunities in northeast Louisiana.

Linda spent the first 15 years of her career developing and managing numerous critical care services. During that time, she designed and opened four adult ICUs, a PICU, and telemetry units; she also started an open-heart program and developed an emergency department.

She then led the establishment of a community health center, a community clinic for the underserved, the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute, and P&S Surgical Hospital. Under her leadership, P&S Surgical Hospital has grown from a small ambulatory surgery center that performed approximately 3,500 cases annually, to a thriving surgical hospital that performs approximately 10,000 cases each year.

Linda also serves as president and CEO of Specialty Management Services of Ouachita, a healthcare management & consulting company.

She works locally and nationally to improve healthcare and healthcare systems. Linda led the development of a statewide health improvement plan, Louisiana Turning Point Initiative, which was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson and W. K. Kellogg Foundations. In addition, she served as a member of Governor Kathleen Blanco’s Health Care Reform Task Force and Governor Bobby Jindal’s Health Care Transition Committee. She was also a member the national Catholic Health Association (Washington, DC) Task Force on the Uninsured.

She is a member of the Council for a Better Louisiana, the Children’s Coalition, American College of Healthcare Executives, Louisiana Hospital Association, and the Physician’s Hospital Association. She currently serves on the Louisiana Public Health Institute, the University Health Board of Trustees, and the ULM Foundation Board of Trustees. She is past president/board chair for the United Way of Northeast Louisiana, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and the Wellspring.

She has served as adjunct nursing faculty for ULM, Louisiana Tech University, and Grambling State University. In recognition of her efforts to improve her community, she and her husband Joe received the Rambin/Silverstein Award by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

Linda received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Master of Nursing Administration (with a healthcare administration minor) from Northwestern State University. She then completed a Healthier Communities Fellowship sponsored by the HealthCare Forum in San Francisco.
