2017 Distinguished Leader Award: Katrina Jackson
The Honorable Katrina Jackson is an attorney and a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District
16, representing Ouachita and Morehouse parishes.
Jackson earned a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Law and Legal Studies from the University
of Louisiana at Monroe in 2000 and a Juris Doctor Degree from Southern University
Law Center in 2004, graduating in the top fourteen percent of her class (18 out of
128.) In April 2005, she was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2011, Jackson serves on the Agriculture,
Forestry, Aquaculture. and Rural Development Committee; the Commerce Committee; the
Health and Welfare Committee; the Appropriations Committee; the Committee on Joint
Budget; and the House Executive Committee.
Jackson is a member of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus and the Louisiana
Rural Caucus, and is the head of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus.
In 2012, Ms. Jackson opened her private law firm, Katrina R. Jackson LLC and is a
partner with the Downs Law Firm.
Born and raised in Monroe, Katrina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Welton and Patricia
Holman and Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Linda Jackson. Katrina says “she has been blessed
to work in various areas which offer service to the community and Kingdom of God,”
and attributes her accomplishments to not just having a dream, but having a dream
that lines up with God's plan for her life. She believes her footsteps are ordered
by God and everyday works to allow God to guide her in the process of realizing her
dream.
Her family worships at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe.

outstanding contributions throughout her career, or within a single organization,
or through collaboration with others. The Distinguished Leader makes extraordinary
effort to building relationships while providing exceptional guidance, leadership,
and dedication to the organization she is a part of.
