Course Description: Introduction to limits and differential calculus with a wide variety of applications. Students interested in intensive use of mathematics should take 21. Credit not given for more than one of the courses 19, 21 unless followed by 22. Credit not given for both Math 13 and 19. Prerequisite: 9, 10, or sufficiently strong background in secondary school algebra and geometry.
Homework: Homework sets will generally be assigned upon completion of material. There will normally be two to three days in which to complete these sets.
Homework is expected to be completed in a neat manner. Illegible work will not be accepted.
Late Work: Late work will not be accepted, except under extenuating circumstances. Your dog (or any other animal, either wild or domesticated) eating your homework is not an extenuating circumstance.
Exams: There will be three exams covering chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6.
You are expected to be present at each of the exams. If you are unable to attend, notice is expected to be given before the exam. Otherwise, you will receive a grade of zero for the exam. The exact dates of these exams will be announced in class, but are tentatively scheduled for the ends of the weeks in which these chapters are finished.
Final Exam: There will be a final exam which will take place on December 11, 2010 from 1:30-4:15 in LaFayette L210. This exam is mandatory and is scheduled in advance by the Office of the Registrar, so please plan your trip home accordingly. Failure to attend will result in a grade of zero for the exam.

Homework: 50%
Exams: 30%
Final: 20%

Grading Scheme:

A: 90-100%
B: 80-89%
C: 70-79%
D: 60-69%
F: < 60%
