Bachelor of Science Degree Completion in Dental Hygiene (AAS to BS)
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dental hygienists is projected to grow 33% from 2012 to 2022, this rate is much faster than the average for all other occupations. Ongoing research linking oral health to general health will continue to spur demand for preventative dental services, which are often provided by dental hygienists. This degree program is an opportunity for dental hygienists who hold an associate degree to work closely with professionals in the field of dentistry on obtaining a baccalaureate degree in order to meet the growing demand for personnel in the field of dentistry. The Department of Dental Hygiene is committed to educating dental health professionals who can function as members of the dental health team and who can provide oral health care in today's ever changing world. Intelligent problem solving and accountability are expected of each student who is enrolled in the dental hygiene program. This program provides a dynamic interdisciplinary dental hygiene curriculum that integrates biomedical, and behavioral sciences.
Additional Admission Requirements:
Applicants for this program must have successful completion of the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam and licensure in at least one state along with graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average.
