Loan Programs

The Federal Perkins Loan Program includes Federal Perkins Loans, National Direct Student Loans (NDSLs) and National Defense Student Loans (Defense Loans). [No new Defense Loans were made after July 1, 1972, but a few are still in repayment.] Perkins Loans and NDSLs are low-interest , long-term loans made through school financial aid offices to help needy undergraduate and graduate students pay for post-secondary education.

Health Professions Loans are also low-interest, long-term loans made to help needy undergraduate students pursuing a Pharmacy degree.

Please contact the Financial Aid Office to apply for loans.

 

How To Make A Loan Payment

Loan payments are due by the 1st of each month. You will be mailed a monthly statement as a reminder; however, even if you do not receive a statement, you are responsible for making your payment by the 1st. If you have not received a statement and need to verify your payment amount, please contact the Student Loan Department at (318) 342-5121 or HEARTLAND.ECSI.NET.

Payments may be made to ECSI by several methods. Money orders and personal checks may be sent directly to ECSI at their address (c/o ULM, 181 Montour Run Road, Coraopolis PA 15108-9408). Credit or debit cards bearing the Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo are accepted online at HEARTLAND.ECSI.NET. Questions may be directed to ECSI at 888-549-3274 (toll-free).

If you are mailing your payment, please remember that your payment must be received by ECSI on or before the 1st of the month. You should allow sufficient time for your payment to be delivered. Additionally, please write your account number on your payment. This assists in making sure your payment is posted to your account properly.
