Dan Newsom is a 2012 graduate of the ULM College of Pharmacy (COP). He currently resides in Birmingham, AL, with his wife of eight years, Rebekah, and their two wonderful children Chap (2) and Taylor Kate (4 months).
Dan began working for CVS Health in 2008 and is currently the Regional Director over businesses located across four states: Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.
He is passionate about patient care in the community pharmacy setting and expanding the scope of practice in the profession of pharmacy through initiatives like CVS HealthHUB. Dan is an active alumnus and an advocate for the profession and for the ULM COP. He has been a guest speaker at many COP events including orientation week, Pre-Pharmacy Organization meetings, and the annual white coat ceremony.
For those looking to a career in pharmacy, Dan has some advice saying, “Pharmacy is an incredibly fulfilling career full of so many different avenues for helping your patients live a healthier life, and the great news is that the profession is continuing to evolve even further in patient care! For those who are interested, I encourage you to find a job opportunity within the field you’re interested in to discover all of the exciting ways you can apply your knowledge to benefit the patients in your community. Having relevant work experience is one of the best ways to learn, it will expand your network and make you even more marketable when you are exploring future career pathways.”
When he isn’t working or spending time with his family, Dan enjoys golf, guitar, grilling and Halo. He said, “yes, Halo the video games—Halo 5 is amazing!”
