Online Grief Care Management

A Master of Arts in Gerontology with a concentration in Grief Care Management is a specialized 30-hour academic program that is an ideal fit for healthcare and helping professionals such as nurses, social workers, counselors, ministers, and others that are interested in advancing their career while focusing on senior services.

 

Requirements for Grief Care Management

Following are the courses for the program:

 

Core Classes 

• GERO 5010 - Biology for Aging

• GERO 5012 - Social Gerontology 

• GERO 5067 – Program and Public Policy 

• GERO 5095 – Seminar in Gerontology (Capstone) 

• GERO XXXX – Approved Elective

• GERO XXXX – Approved Elective

 

Concentration Classes

• GERO 5032 – Loss, Grief, and Bereavement  

• GERO 5033 - Grief Assessment and Intervention

• GERO 5085 – Theories of Aging, Loss, and Grief

• GERO 5090 – Internship in Gerontology or Approved Elective

 

Internship is a one semester (300 hours — 25 to 30 hours per week) to gain hands-on experience.  It is an opportunity for the student to develop technical skills, apply classroom learning, and transition to the work environment.
