ULM announces winners of Region III social studies fair

The University of Louisiana at Monroe hosted the 2014 Region III Social Studies Fair on Thursday, March 13 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Participants included more than 550 students from various parishes across northeastern Louisiana.

ULM awarded a $1,200 scholarship to Bethany Ellis of D’Arbonne Woods Charter School and a $800 scholarship to Makayla Beavers of Franklin Academy.

All students in grades six through 12 who participated in the fair were invited to attend the Northeast Louisiana History Day at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum on Saturday, March 22.

First and second place winners are eligible to participate in the Louisiana State Social Studies Fair in Lake Charles on May 6.

The Region III Social Studies Fair is a joint project of the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, and the College of Business and Social Sciences.

Dr. Jerrilene Washington and Dr. John Sutherlin serve as co-directors of the fair. Dr. Tina Allen, Dr. Shalanda Stanley, and Dr. Neil White are assistant directors, and Jennifer Bernard is the graduate assistant.
