The Wind Ensemble concert scheduled for this evening has been CANCELED.

The School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will present a concert featuring the Wind Ensemble at 7:30 p.m., on Oct. 14, in Brown Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Dr. Derle R. Long, director of VAPA.

The concert theme is “Band Dancing,” and features a selection of works derived from ballet, opera, and other dance music sources.

Included is “Sarabande and Polka” from the Malcolm Arnold Ballet “Solitare;” Sir Arthur Sullivan’s “Pineapple Poll Suite,” which is a parody of opera overtures and arias; “Cakewalk,” based on piano melodies of Louis Moreau Gottschalk; “Dance of the Jesters,” by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, and a ragtime piece by John Philip Sousa titled “With Pleasure.”
