ULM to break ground on Doppler Radar

Published May 05, 2015

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will break ground on a much-anticipated project at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at 807 HWY 80.

The ULM Doppler Radar, funded by GOHSEP (the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness),  will fill a dire need in the region, with the closest Doppler systems being housed in Shreveport and Jackson.

The new radar will provide coverage for Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union and West Carroll Parishes.

The radar serves a pivotal addition for northeast Louisiana, and for the ULM atmospheric science program.
