ULM Wind Ensemble performance April 10 in Brown Theater

Published April 8, 2019

The University of Louisiana Monroe Wind Ensemble will present its final concert of the semester on Wednesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Brown Theater. Conductors of the Wind Ensemble are Derle R. Long and Steven Pederson. Guest conductor for this performance is Kenna Veronee and guest artist will be Adam Johnson on trombone. There is no admission charge for this performance.

"The Wind Ensemble is the premier student instrumental performing ensemble in the School of Visual and Performing Arts," said Long, Director of VAPA.

This concert will feature the world premiere of Roger Jones’ Sympatico, written for the ULM Wind Ensemble. The piece was scheduled to be performed at the February 26 concert, however, scheduling issues resulted in moving the premiere to the April performance. Roger Jones is a former music professor at ULM and will be present for the premiere.

Other works selected for this performance include Windsprints by Richard Saucedo, Pagan Dances by James Barnes, and Suite Louisiane by James Syler.

Adam Johnson will be featured on trombone in the Concertino by Richard David. Dr. Johnson is Professor of Low Brass at ULM.
