ULM COVID-19 Safety & Security For Campus

Campus Security

Security and safety for our campus community is our top priority. ULM is encouraging all employees to work from home, if possible.

The University will remain open for business during this time but is taking a proactive stance regarding COVID-19 and implementing stricter social distancing measures. All campus facilities are closed to the general public.

University guidelines beginning Monday, March 23 will be as follows:

  • Restricted access to all buildings will allow for social distancing and protecting our students, faculty and staff.
  • Most buildings and facilities will remain locked indefinitely.
  • ULM will provide access to those individuals who are unable to work from home to complete timely transactions and duties pertinent to the daily operations of the university.

In the event that access to a building is required, the individual will follow these steps:

Contact UPD (University Police Department) at 318-342-5350, and:

  • Notify UPD of the name of individual coming to work; what building and room number you will be working in, as well as the expected duration of your visit.
    • Access to building will ONLY be available by ID Card Access. Please check to be sure your ID Card will open your building. (your department head or Dean may approve your access) 
    • If you have an issue gaining access to your building, the WIDS (Warhawk ID Services) office will be open Monday, March 23, 10am – 12pm, if anyone needs assistance. Otherwise, you can contact UPD, and they will communicate with WIDS office to assist you. 
  • Notify UPD when you leave the building, be sure all doors lock behind you

UPD officers will be making regular checks inside and around all buildings and facilities to make sure they remain secure.

Please be sure to download the ULM SAFE App. UPD can determine your location with a push of the emergency button.

Building Hours

Some access points to campus and parking lots will be restricted during this time.

Library Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30 am – 10:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Student Success Center hours: Saturday, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Parking

  • Northeast Drive will be closed from University Ave. to Bon Aire Dr (including bridge). This section will be closed beginning Monday, March 23.
  • Some parking lots will be closed. These lots will be clearly marked by cones and or barricades.
  • Open Parking will be as follows:
    • Strauss Hall lot (Library) will be open for parking to access the Library, Student Success Center, Stubbs Hall and the SUB (Post Office).

    • The rear lot between Sandal Hall and Hanna Hall will be open for personnel utilizing Sandal Hall and the Student Success Center.

    • Coenen Hall lot will be available for Coenen Hall employees and the Health and Counseling Center.

    • Walker Hall, Hanna Hall and Kitty Degree School of Nursing may utilize parking on University Ave. and the parking lot in front of George T. Walker Hall.

    • Parking for Fant Ewing Coliseum will utilize the small lot designated for coaches and game personnel.

    • Parking will be available in front of Malone Stadium and the Activity Center. Adjacent lots will be closed.

    • Hemphill Hall will utilize parking across the street and School of Construction Management will park behind the Construction Building.

    • Parking will also be available along University Ave. and the parking lot adjacent to University Police Department.

Counseling Center

Counseling Center personnel will be available 24/7

During business hours, crisis support is available by phone to any student by calling 318-342-5220. A counselor will be notified of the student’s need for assistance and will return their call immediately. After normal business hours and on weekends, students may contact University Police at 318-342-5350 to make arrangements to speak with a counselor. If a student in crisis is unable to participate in video or phone counseling, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
