MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana Monroe’s annual Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, in Scott Plaza, adjacent to the ULM Library.  

Students, faculty, and staff who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces or on active duty will be recognized at the ceremony. Veterans and active duty are asked to register/RSVP by the end of the day on Thursday, Nov. 7, at ulm.edu/omc/veteransday; click RSVP to register. Veterans in the community are invited to register and attend. 

The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Robert L. Bratton. Lt. Col. Bratton received his commission from the Louisiana Army National Guard Officer Candidate School in August 1994. Lt. Col. Bratton holds a BS in Kinesiology with a minor in History from Louisiana Tech University and is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain Career Course, and the Command & General Staff College. He has received numerous awards during his years of military service, including the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation, and Achievement Medals. He spent 14 years employed as a high school teacher and coach, serving 10 years as the Head Baseball Coach at Neville High School in Monroe.  

The event is free and open to the public.
