The University of Louisiana Monroe has a long and storied history with six unique name changes and eras. The university we love today began as Ouachita Parish Junior College on September 28, 1931 as part of the Ouachita Parish School System. Its initial purpose was to train teachers, since the people of northeast Louisiana needed and demanded education for their children. In the 91 years since, the institution grew and progressed to meet evolving needs for the people of northeast Louisiana and beyond.
In the spirit of a university and people with storied past and an ever-changing future, President Ron Berry challenged the ULM Foundation to raise $100 million by ULM's 100th anniversary in 2031.The ULM SOAR Campaign is an inspiring vision to take the university to new heights. Gifts to SOAR will go toward Students, Opportunities, Athletics, and Renovations to make ULM the best in the world at what we do.
