We are a student chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). ACCP strives to improve human health by extending the frontiers of clinical pharmacy.
Through strategic initiatives, partnerships, collaborations, and alliances, ACCP:
• Provides leadership, professional development, advocacy, and resources that enable clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice, research, and education.
• Advances clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapy through the support and promotion of research, training, and education.
• Promotes the generation of innovative science, development of successful practice models, and dissemination of new knowledge to advance pharmacotherapy and patient care.
• Emerge from the Crowd: provides students with the opportunity to learn from experts in the field of clinical pharmacy about the steps they can take now to rise above the competition when applying for a residency. Emerge from the Crowd is an interactive programming session held during the Annual Meeting and Spring Forum, where information material is also provided to students. ACCP has designed this educational program for all students, including those in their first 2 years of pharmacy school.
• On-Demand CV and LOI Review Services: An integral portion of the residency application can be easily reviewed by current residents and pharmacists year-round. After submission, the document will be randomly assigned to an ACCP member volunteer, who will provide feedback. These services are free of charge, and the student may submit and resubmit an unlimited number of times.
• Practice and Research Networks (PRNs): These are a unique offering from ACCP that allows its members to interact via email list messages. This permits for the exchange of timely information to improve both patient care and practice in specialty areas of pharmacy. Specifically for student members, PRNs present the opportunity to gain perspective on major areas of professional interests. PRNs are also an excellent way for student members to network with practitioners and contribute to an area of interest through the various PRN-specific committees. Upon becoming a member of ACCP, students are eligible to join one PRN free of charge.
• Leadership APPE: Designed for fourth-year pharmacy students, the Leadership APPE provides an opportunity to learn about leadership within a professional organization from the perspectives of both elected leaders and staff, with a syllabus incorporating both individual and group discussions, journal clubs, presentations, and writing projects. This virtual rotation allows the student to interact with staff from both the Lenexa and Washington, DC offices, as well as elected leaders throughout the United States. On-site visits can be arranged for students wishing to visit either of the ACCP offices. Applications for this opportunity are typically open from August 1 to November 1 each year.
• Additionally, ACCP provides ample opportunities for student members to become involved with research, leadership through its National Student Network Advisory Committee, and two local and national-level student competitions.
