Is the program accredited?
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family
Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
What is the average length of the program?
Most graduates take between three and four years to complete the program.
Can I apply if I don't have a background in Marriage and Family Therapy?
Applicants to the PhD program must have either a graduate degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy or the equivalent. Applicants without a master's degree in MFT must take prerequisite
courses to achieve the equivalency of a master's degree in the field.
Note: Application to the University must be made, and the application fee paid, to
receive a transcript review.
Can I attend as a part-time student?
The program is a cohort model and only accepts full-time students.
Can I get a graduate assistantship?
Graduate assistantships at the doctoral level generally include (but are not limited
to) research assistant positions and Assistant Director of Clinical Services. If you
are interested in a graduate assistantship, please fill out the application and recommendation
forms included in the program application packet.
When will I be notified regarding an admissions decision?
If you have been selected for an on-campus interview, you will be notified by mid-March.
If you are accepted to the program, you will receive notification in writing by the
first week in April.
