Our bodies are intricately designed. The way we steward them — with exercise, nutrition and medical care — can have profound effects on our physical, emotional and spiritual health. In ULM’s Kinesiology Program, you will receive specialized training in human movement and athletic performance, preparing you to be a competent and caring professional in such fields as exercise science, cardiac rehab, physical therapy, athletic training, and chiropractic care.
Our Kinesiology Program also prepares students for exciting careers in the sport, fitness, and health industries, which could include conducting scientific testing in an exercise physiology lab, preparing to enter physical therapy or athletic training graduate programs, working on the business side of sport-related organizations, or entering the fitness and recreation industry at all levels.

COST & FINANCINGThe Department of Kinesiology is part of the College of Health Sciences, which is fully accredited through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The undergraduate exercise science concentration in the Department of Kinesiology was one of the first to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP/COAES) and the graduate program in exercise physiology was the first nationally accredited program.
The ULM Kinesiology Master of Exercise Science Concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology had a 100% student retention rate along with a 100% exceptional rating for student interns for the 2016-17 COAES reporting period. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Concentration in Exercise Science had a 100% exceptional rating for student interns and a 83% retention rate for the 2016-17 COAES reporting period.
The Kinesiology Department's student association (A.S.K.) is an organization designed to provide practical learning experiences, as well as professional development, to students preparing for careers in physical education (PK-12), health, dance, cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, coaching, and parks and recreation services. A.S.K. is open to all majors and non-majors.
These awards are granted to outstanding male and female undergraduate KINS majors.
